This role is based in Frankenthal, Germany.

Amazon is seeking Site Process Engineers to work in the EU Process Engineering (EU PE) team. The Site Process Engineer is an onsite position.

The EU PE team consists of operational leaders focused on process stabilization, standardization, and continuous improvement within the EU Customer Fulfillment Network. This team is crucial for establishing best-in-class process performance, accelerating technological implementation, and enhancing the technical and process knowledge of operational leaders across the network. EU PE ensures operations teams are equipped with the necessary expertise to deliver technological and process improvements effectively.

The team collaborates closely with Process System Engineering (PSE), ACES PM, Central Ops launch teams, operations engineering, and reliability and maintenance (RME) teams to optimize process input metrics by prioritizing and allocating resources.

The Site Process Engineer works alongside the FC Senior Leadership Team and maintains high collaboration with EU PE functions. Responsibilities include deploying initiatives, building networks within the FC, driving compliance, and leading EU-wide improvement activities. The role demands ownership of initiatives, detailed understanding, and the ability to influence outcomes to achieve tangible productivity and efficiency gains.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Identify top opportunities through Back to Basics (B2B) initiatives, focusing on bottom 50 processes, and implement improvement plans in collaboration with local Operations Management.
  2. Oversee the improvement program, prioritize focus areas aligned with FC leadership, analyze process performance, and develop actionable improvement plans.
  3. Review open Action Plans weekly, engage stakeholders, and ensure timely completion of suggested actions.
  4. Collaborate with central PE functions and regional Site PEs, leverage benchmarking initiatives to reduce variation across FCs.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Implement network best practices and share successful initiatives with EU PE for repository inclusion.
  2. Strengthen the framework for capturing and scaling FC innovations through a standard process reviewed by process SMEs.
  3. Ensure major projects and ideas are integrated into the Operating Plan, supporting significant savings and improvements.

Own the deployment of EU network initiatives, ensuring timely execution and compliance. Support FCs in testing and piloting projects, ensuring deployment and review across all EU FCs.

Partnership with FC Operations

  1. Participate in daily Gemba walks to stay aligned with FC issues and feedback.
  2. Organize weekly leadership meetings to update on projects, best practices, and initiatives.
  3. Build strong relationships with Site Leaders and Senior Ops, providing process support and ad hoc assistance as needed.
  4. Support or lead EU Projects, expanding scope and coordinating multiple FCs to enhance project management skills and stakeholder engagement.

Deployment to site management teams may occur based on operational needs. The role requires travel within the area of responsibility, estimated at 0-10% of the time, subject to change.

Language requirements include English and German at C1 level.

Qualifications include experience in operations as an Area Manager or similar, proficiency in at least one Fulfillment process path (certified), expertise in Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies, knowledge of change management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Leadership skills to motivate teams are essential.
