Staff Data Scientist*

The Data Science department at NEW YORKER specializes in statistical modeling, machine learning, and optimization techniques to enhance business processes. Responsibilities

1. Develop and manage a network of business contacts to understand processes, data representations, and key challenges.
2. Collaborate with leadership to develop machine learning models that enable automation and forecasting, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
3. Lead complex projects across areas like assortment planning, pricing, and distribution, covering all phases from analysis to deployment.
4. Work with data engineering and software teams to deploy and maintain data products.
5. Design and implement machine learning models, serve as a role model, and lead by example.
6. Contribute to strategic decisions affecting teams and the company, helping define long-term roadmaps.
7. Advise and guide teams to find simple, effective solutions that maximize value.
8. Mentor team members through code reviews and promote knowledge sharing.
9. Drive data science initiatives and influence the company's AI strategy.

Qualifications

• University degree in STEM disciplines with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in fashion, retail, or e-commerce industries.
• Background as a Data Scientist or software engineer with proven data science project experience.
• Comfort with uncertainty and ambiguity.
• Proficiency in Python and data science frameworks (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with data engineering tools (Spark, Hadoop).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a hands-on approach.
• Well-organized, proactive, and self-driven, with alignment to team goals.
• Fluent in German and English.
