The position aims to drive Berghof Foundation's fundraising strategy by strengthening and diversifying funding sources. You will build new partnerships and maintain existing ones to generate institutional and project funding. As Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager (all genders), you will focus on governmental partners and private foundations, coordinating and supporting fundraising activities across the organization. You will provide leadership, oversight, and guidance, working closely with the Executive Team and line managing the Strategic Partnership staff in Berlin and Brussels during the Head of Strategic Partnerships, Innovation, and Impact's parental leave.

Overview of the position :

Starting date : As soon as possible

Duration : Limited contract until 31.12.2026 (parental leave cover) with the possibility of extension

Location : Berlin, Germany

Department & reporting line : Executive Office

  1. Shape and implement Berghof's fundraising strategy, aiming at growth, core funding, and donor diversification.
  2. Provide strategic direction and leadership for all fundraising activities.
  3. Oversee and lead fundraising efforts and strategic outreach to governmental donors and private foundations.
  4. Monitor policy developments and funding mechanisms, build strong donor relationships, and create collaboration opportunities.
  5. Advise on calls for proposals and emerging donor trends.
  6. Coordinate, draft, and edit partnership and funding applications with thematic or regional leads.
  7. Prepare briefings for the Executive Director and handle follow-ups with key contacts.
  8. Participate in meetings of the Executive Team and the Strategic Partnerships Team, providing interim leadership as needed.

Your knowledge, experience & skills

  1. Master's degree in International Relations, European Studies, or related fields.
  2. At least 7 years of relevant experience in relationship building, fundraising, and team leadership.
  3. Experience in proposal writing for governments and private foundations.
  4. Knowledge of relevant donors and networks is preferable.
  5. Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
  6. Fluent in English; good German skills; additional languages are a plus.
