Job Title: PhD Student (m/w/d) Neurobiology, Psychology, Biology or a related field, Münster

Job Description:

We are UKM, committed to healthcare, research, and teaching. We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team at the Institute of Physiology I, focusing on the role of NMDA receptors in psychosis. The project involves studying NMDA receptor hypofunction using translational mouse models, advanced multiphoton imaging, and virtual reality platforms to understand neurobiological mechanisms underlying psychosis.

Responsibilities:

  1. Investigate NMDA receptor hypofunction in decision-making and behavior using mouse models
  2. Perform in vivo multiphoton imaging to study neuronal activity during behavioral tasks
  3. Integrate virtual reality paradigms with behavior and imaging analyses
  4. Explore therapeutic interventions for NMDA receptor dysfunction
  5. Collect, analyze, and interpret data using advanced imaging and computational tools
  6. Present research findings at conferences and in publications

Requirements:

  1. Master's degree in Neurobiology, Psychology, Biology, or related field
  2. Interest in psychosis, neuroimmunology, and cognition
  3. Experience with animal models and behavioral testing (preferred)
  4. Familiarity with imaging techniques like multiphoton microscopy (a plus)
  5. Strong data analysis skills; programming experience (MATLAB, Python) desirable
  6. Motivated, independent, team-oriented
  7. Proficiency in English; German skills are a plus until 27.05.2025

Additional Information:
