Timely models for individual and societal health: “Eventful” is a project developing new methods for effective modelling of spatio-temporal processes, with applications in crisis prediction and prevention and geopolitics. You will help build standardised frameworks for preparation and evaluation of models for longitudinal survey data, patient trajectories, and socio-political processes in noisy or high-dimensional settings.
Reducing patient burden and research cost: the AI4Nof1 project leverages cutting-edge developments in (causal, neurosymbolic) reinforcement learning, psychometrics, and digital epidemiology to build adaptive personalised treatment regimes for chronic conditions, simultaneously identifying phenotypes and causal pathways while minimising the time and number of measurements needed for patients to find a treatment that is right for them.
The TrustifAI project aims to contribute a set of concrete solutions to improve trustworthiness of AI applications in health and wellbeing at various stages of the development lifecycle. A quality platform for the development of trustworthy AI applications will enable users to create efficient and effective data science analytics pipelines through a human-in-the-loop approach, with the goal of increasing trustworthiness.

Salaries depend on personal experience and circumstances. We offer a competitive salary within the German research landscape and pride ourselves on providing a great working environment for our diverse team.
The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) has operated as a non-profit, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) since 1988. DFKI combines scientific excellence and commercially-oriented value creation with social awareness and is recognized as a major "Center of Excellence" internationally. In the field of artificial intelligence, DFKI has focused on human-centric AI for over 35 years, committed to essential, future-oriented applications and socially relevant topics.
DFKI encourages applications from people with disabilities; we aim to increase female representation in science and encourage women to apply for this position.
