Role Summary:
The Commercial Cost Manager is responsible for driving the best cost for medium to high-profile clients that require market-level industry expertise and an in-depth understanding of the competitive telecommunications market. This role operates within the Supplier Management department, which is responsible for the lifecycle management of vendor agreements and supplier relationships. We provide GTT sales and network with vendor capabilities for service delivery at optimal cost.
Job Scope:
This role interacts with Sales, Sales Engineering, the Supplier Management team, and the Quoting Management team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review Telecom Access costing for specific clients and/or opportunities, allocating based on team needs to locations off-net to the GTT backbone and Metro networks.
- Maintain daily relations with suppliers to obtain competitive quotes aligned with technical requirements for the end customer product solution.
- Review customer technical requirements alongside supplier cost responses, ensuring suitable supplier products are quoted.
- Facilitate large bid reviews with suppliers to ensure GTT leads with competitive costing.
- Negotiate prices with suppliers to seek reductions and obtain discounts on bundled deals.
- Ensure timely tail quotes, accurate quotes, and RFS dates, balancing price, delivery times, and quality.
- Maintain a database of quotes to estimate costs quickly and track similar requests from different parties.
- Provide feedback to Sales and presales teams on project details and carrier commercial matters.
- Assist with administrative tasks like filing historical data when needed.
- Produce timely reports to keep quotes up-to-date and measure vendor performance.
- Escalate issues with suppliers as needed.
- Review large client renewal opportunities with recommendations to the Account Team.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Ability to process large amounts of data including prices, products, and technical details.
- Experience in local telecom market analysis and supplier cost comparison.
- 7+ years in a quoting/pricing telecom role with proven large deal negotiation experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Self-motivated with good planning skills.
- Advanced PC skills, especially Excel and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Desirable Experience/Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Local Access Network Technologies and Transport technologies (SDH, MPLS, Ethernet, xDSL, etc.).
- Familiarity with relevant supplier markets, products, and technology.
