Job Description:

MAJOR FUNCTION

The reading interventionist will help students develop proficient reading skills that will contribute to their overall academic growth. Those employed by TCA will have completed an extensive review by TCA to ensure they meet the standards for the school both in delivery of instruction and establishment of the learning community and student-centered atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and interpret diagnostic and formative assessment data to make ongoing instructional decisions.
  • Prepare and implement evidence-based reading interventions.
  • Create, organize, and maintain an intervention schedule to maximize time and number of students served.
  • Provide ongoing progress monitoring and adjust interventions based on students’ response as part of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process.
  • Design resources that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Provide explicit, systematic, and multisensory interventions effectively to struggling readers.
  • Collaborate with teachers regularly to share data and students’ response to interventions to ensure alignment of the intervention to core instruction.
  • Communicate with parents and teachers to provide detailed documentation of interventions and student progress.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams regarding student needs to establish appropriate interventions and supports.
  • Utilize a variety of multisensory techniques to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Provide for the safety and welfare of students.
  • Contribute to academic growth and positive development of students through instruction.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter.
  • Assess and report student progress regularly.
  • Organize and create a positive classroom environment.
  • Maintain discipline and uphold school policies.
  • Participate in school activities outside regular hours.
  • Collaborate and support colleagues.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development.
  • Implement curriculum guidelines and contribute to the learning community.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.

Academic Endorsements: Preference for individuals with Gifted, ESOL, and multiple certifications.

Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor’s degree, valid Florida teaching certificate for the subject and grade, and a Reading endorsement or certification. Preference for candidates with Gifted Endorsement, ESOL Endorsement, and multiple certifications.
