Job Description

As a Senior Software Test Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will participate in the testing activities for industry-leading Manufacturing Execution System (MES) products integrated with machine automation, control systems, and ERP software.

Assignments include participation in product requirements development, architectural design of automated test systems, effort estimation, design, coding, and verification of automated test systems in all stages of the software development lifecycle. You will collaborate with multiple global cross-functional teams allowing you to become part of an international team that is committed to open and direct communications, honesty and respect.

You will report to your manager located in Karlsruhe, Germany and have a hybrid work schedule in Karlsruhe

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work on MES software products with a focus on test automation and test strategy.
  • Use modern continuous integration and development tools, and promote continuous improvement of engineering tools and practices.
  • Participate as a member of a team within the (SAFe) Agile Framework, and promote Agile practices within the team.
  • Develop test designs, implement and run tests, maintain test documentation.
  • Participate in the software quality process, including reviews of documents, test designs and test cases.
  • Monitor the test results and report software defects.
  • Participate in functional and system requirements analysis required to design and verify added and changed functionality.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent knowledge in the application of software engineering principles and testing strategies.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in software testing in a software product development environment.
  • Experience with test strategies, test automation using Java and scripting languages (Selenium, Playwright, and Marathon).

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Proficiency in test management tools (e.g. qTest).
  • Experience in understanding of system requirements.
  • Cloud technology using containerization, virtualized environments, load balancing/sharing.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD principles.
  • Familiarity with development tools (Eclipse, GitLab, JUnit, JIRA, Jenkins, ANT, and Maven).
  • Database programming skills (SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Domain knowledge in the field of Regulated Industries and MES applications.
  • Working experience with globally distributed teams.
  • Proficiency in both English and German.
