Jobbeschreibung

MBL is among the world's highest-ranked scientific research organizations dedicated to exploring the secrets of life. EMBL unites 28 member states and employs approximately 1800 staff across six research sites in Barcelona, Cambridge (Hinxton), Grenoble, Hamburg, Heidelberg, and Rome. Its headquarters are located in Heidelberg, Germany, hosting both research groups and core facilities.

Training the next generation of scientists is a key mission of EMBL.

The EMBL Corporate Partnership Programme invites applications for short-term fellowships that enable junior scientists (active PhD or postdoctoral fellows) to conduct experimental projects with an EMBL host group. This provides opportunities to build networks, experience EMBL's international environment, and advance their research goals.

These fellowships are managed by the Scientific Visitor Programme Office, which offers logistical and organizational support during the visit. Funding covers travel and accommodation costs, and can supplement other funding sources, provided all funding is declared during application or post-award.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Current employment as a PhD or postdoctoral researcher at a recognized research or educational institution worldwide (excluding non-sanctioned countries).
  • Must return to their home institution after completing the EMBL project.

Important notes:

  • No restrictions on age, gender, nationality, scientific background, or current location.
  • Visits to EMBL Core Facilities or EMBL-EBI service teams are not covered under this fellowship.
  • Applicants based in EMBL Member States may consider applying for the Christian Boulin fellowships or other schemes listed on our website.
  • Application duration must be between one and six months.
  • Priority is given to first-time visitors, but previous visits should be highlighted in the application.
  • Applications are accepted year-round with deadlines on 31 March, 30 June, 30 September, and 31 December.
  • Fellowships not utilized within six months of award will lapse; re-application is required.

A complete application includes:

  • Application form (available on the EMBL CPP fellowships website)
  • Updated CV with publications, indexed in ORCID
  • Confirmation from the EMBL host group leader
  • Support letter from your home institution supervisor
