Controller / Finance Business Partner (m / f / d)

Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). We have pledged to bring sustainable urban air mobility to life by getting electric air taxis off the ground in a way that complements existing transportation options in megacities across the globe. In 2011, we carried out the first-ever crewed flight of a fully electric multicopter and have since conducted more than 2,000 public and private test flights across the world.

Job Description

As a Finance Business Partner, you will be part of our controlling and FP&A department, working with C-Level executives and department heads. Your role involves creating, maintaining, and driving processes and tools to support decision-making for our technology teams. You will analyze drivers and trends across business segments, incorporate these insights into financial planning, and provide guidance to help steer the company successfully. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial success of an innovative company.

This role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 3 days onsite in Bruchsal.

Your mission during this flight :

1. You will be a key partner for C-Level, Directors, and department heads (CTO, COO).
2. You will implement automated, scalable, and analytical reports to facilitate data-driven decision-making across all organizational levels.
3. You will manage the budget and forecasting processes for all functions, including performance reviews.
4. You will ensure the maturity of global systems and processes, continuously working on standardization and improvements, both technical and procedural.
5. You will maintain our project structure data in financial systems, overseeing project accounting for personnel and expenses, including the capitalization of development costs.
6. You will participate in capacity planning.
7. You will collaborate cross-functionally with other finance business partners to establish total cost of ownership.
8. You will support investment and optimization decisions (make or buy).
9. You will contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closures.

Qualifications

Check your professional skills :

1. Strong background in R&D or production controlling is desirable, ideally in aviation, automotive, space tech, or biotech industries, with 5+ years of experience.
2. Experience in fast-paced environments like startups or scale-ups; controlling in a matrix framework is a plus.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of collaborating with top and extended leadership teams and working effectively across functions.
4. Experience with implementing modern, digital FP&A services based on cutting-edge technology.
5. Understanding of IFRS accounting principles to connect financial statements and project accounting.
6. Degree in finance, controlling, FP&A, or related fields; additional qualifications like MBA, PhD, CMA, or CPA are advantageous.
7. Fluent in English; advanced German skills are desirable.
