The Tires Purchasing Area is looking for 2 team members, located in Lousado (Portugal).
This position reports directly and centrally to the Head of Inbound Supply Chain Management - Raw Material Purchasing (Hannover-Germany) and locally to the Head of Raw Materials HUB EMEA (Lousado-Portugal).
The person is responsible for ensuring that global raw material deliveries move efficiently from suppliers to Continental plants worldwide by optimizing performance, reducing costs, and maintaining high service levels. The target is to streamline supply chain processes to reduce lead times and eliminate bottlenecks, while also escalating disruptions at the right time to keep Conti tire plants operational. This is a self-led role based in Lousado, with an estimated travel ratio of around 20% per year.
Detailed activities include:
- Tracking and monitoring shipments and providing updates to plants and other stakeholders;
- Executing benchmarks for new or existing shipping lanes to support management decisions;
- Reporting KPIs related to shipping status and continuously improving these processes and tools;
- Performing long-term checks on container volumes across shipping lanes;
- Supporting and ensuring proper Raw Materials Supplier On/Off Boarding to/from Conti Freight setup;
- Coordinating Raw Materials supplier setup with freight forwarders during onboarding;
- Developing and conceptualizing process improvements to optimize freight costs and supply chain efficiency;
- Providing excellent customer service by liaising with plant customers, addressing concerns, and meeting their needs;
- Managing costs and invoices by validating net rates and fees to ensure accurate invoicing and cost accruals;
- Building and maintaining a supply chain/freight database for analytics;
- Ensuring timely preparation of all necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading, customs declarations, and compliance paperwork.
Your profile
- University degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology, or a comparable qualification;
- Over 3 years of experience in Supply Chain Management or Logistics;
- Knowledge in: Supply Chain/Logistics; Data & systems (RMDP, SAP, MPOP); Raw material purchasing processes; Risk management;
- International and intercultural experience is required;
- Fluent English skills (spoken and written, minimum B2 European level);
- Excellent communication and analytical skills;
- Ability to work independently with high self-motivation, as well as teamwork and flexibility;
- Willingness to travel.
