Principal Tasks and Essential Functions
The Engineer Advanced Technology (PhD track) is an expert who will contribute to advanced technology projects, focusing on digital coherent transmission for satellite applications. The candidate will engage in research and product development to push the boundaries of optical communication systems under challenging environments. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to pursue a PhD thesis as part of this role, with access to academic and industry support.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Investigate and optimize coherent optical transmission systems tailored for satellite applications
- Analyze and model system performance under atmospheric turbulence and cloud blockage scenarios
- Set up a prototype platform to test and validate next-generation digital coherent transmission technologies
- Design and implement automation frameworks for measurement and system validation
- Conduct performance measurements and evaluate results in simulated and real-world scenarios
- Study and characterize system behavior under dynamic atmospheric conditions
Supplementary Tasks
- Demonstrate technical excellence through presentations and publications in conferences and technical forums
- Protect intellectual property by filing patents for innovative solutions
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Must be pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Prior experience in coherent optical transmission and digital signal processing
- Strong background in FPGA programming and lab automation
- Hands-on experience with communication system modeling and impact analysis
- Familiarity with optical communication experiments
- Experience with automating complex measurements
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills
- Highly innovative and motivated with a strategic, problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work effectively in virtual teams across multiple sites
- Fluency in English
