Your role

As Briink’s Senior Backend Engineer, you will collaborate with the product and engineering team to bring advanced LLMs to environmental and sustainability teams, supporting Briink’s mission to use AI to promote a sustainable economy. Your responsibilities include designing and building backend services, ensuring scalability, robustness, and maintainability of our platform. Your main tasks:

1. Ideate, design, and scope new backend functionalities to support AI features and meet user needs.
2. Develop backend functionalities and deliver tasks as an individual contributor and team collaborator, from development to production.
3. Guard and maintain backend services, improving robustness as we scale.
4. Be a core team member, working closely with cross-disciplinary teams to align efforts with our mission.

Your profile

Technical Requirements

• Fluency in Python: Proficiency with base Python and frameworks like fastAPI.
• Experience building APIs: Developing RESTful and production-grade external APIs.
• Experience with Databases: Especially Postgres, ORMs like SQLAlchemy, and migration tools like Alembic.
• Experience with Cloud Services: Building scalable infrastructure, preferably in GCP, supporting heavy AI workloads.
• English proficiency (C1): Clear communication to diverse stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AI/LLMs, distributed systems, caching, testing, observability, domain-driven design, security, and sustainability interests.
