GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the world's leading particle accelerators for science. Currently, the new FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research), one of the largest international research projects, is under construction. GSI and FAIR offer the opportunity to work in an international environment with a dedicated team committed to conducting world-class science each day.

We are seeking an IT Administrator / Support (all genders) for the Information Technology (IT) department within the FAIR Site & Buildings (FSB) division, with an immediate start date.

The key responsibilities include supporting a CAD IT infrastructure and providing technical support to users within the 'FAIR Site & Buildings' department, including clients and construction companies.

  1. Support and maintenance of the CAD IT infrastructure
  2. Administration and support of databases and software for construction site operations
  3. Administration, installation, configuration, and operation of Windows servers and client operating systems
  4. Independent analysis and processing of support and service requests related to CAD, MS Office, and client OS
  5. Error analysis and development of solutions
  6. Documentation of processes and workflows
  7. Creating statistics and reports
  8. General administration, maintenance, and development of the Microsoft IT infrastructure for approximately 3,000 client systems and 2,000 users in a dynamic and heterogeneous environment

Your profile:

  1. Completed training in information technology or a related field
  2. Several years of professional experience in IT-related roles (e.g., IT service management, customer support, helpdesk, IT administration)
  3. Experience as a system administrator
  4. Proficiency in current Windows operating systems (Windows 10) and troubleshooting skills
  5. Basic knowledge of Active Directory, MS Office, Ethernet networks, database applications, and CAD software in construction
  6. Good communication skills and a strong service orientation
  7. Willingness to learn and team-working ability
  8. Fluent German communication skills are required
  9. Good written and spoken English skills are desirable
