Role / Mission of the Senior Commercial Sales Manager

The Commercial function focuses on improving customer experiences to ensure profitable growth. It plays a key role in driving process compliance and enhancing Fluence's brand reputation in our markets and industries.

The Commercial Finance Manager manages relationships with external clients and internal departments, primarily interfacing with sales and engineering teams during negotiations and contract management. The ideal candidate should be commercially and contractually aware, capable of working under pressure across multiple projects, and managing time effectively.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Support sales and engineering teams during tender negotiations to ensure mutually beneficial and clear terms for Fluence.
  2. Participate in project risk reviews, T&C negotiations, and develop win strategies.
  3. Implement process improvements across Deal and Services teams to ensure excellent customer service.
  4. Assess risks thoroughly, understand project cashflows, milestone management, and T&C application.
  5. Shape risks and opportunities in contractual negotiations for acceptable deal outcomes.
  6. Analyze and review commercial tender documents and support offer document completion with legal cooperation.
  7. Coordinate contractual and legal activities with third parties.
  8. Evaluate projects during the offer stage, providing input for Capex and Opex planning.
  9. Manage securities and guarantees from parent companies and external providers.
  10. Support financing solutions with banks and financial institutions.
  11. Coordinate tax, customs, logistics, and insurance topics with subject matter experts.
  12. Define currency strategies and manage currency risks during tenders.
  13. Forecast order entries, margins, and revenue recognition.
  14. Promote lessons learned from past bids to foster continuous improvement.
  15. Ensure proper management approval processes and seamless handover to project teams.

Required Skills

  • Experience with consultancy organizations involved in change programs.
  • Understanding of financial models of successful businesses; experience with Private Equity is a plus.
  • Proven contract negotiation skills and ability to align stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and with teams.
  • Strategic, customer-centric mindset with attention to detail.
  • Integrity, courage, and conviction.
  • Good listening skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
  • Business fluency in English and German (at least B2+).
