The KU School of Transformation and Sustainability (STS) invites applications for the
Professorship of Personal Development and Sustainability-oriented Social Design (W3)
to be filled by the earliest possible starting date. The newly established professorship plays an important role in the sustainability and transformation strategies of the KU at its Ingolstadt campus. The KU is committed to increasing the percentage of women in research and teaching and therefore explicitly encourages female researchers to apply.
Your responsibilities
The future holder of the position researches and teaches with an interdisciplinary focus in the areas of personal development and social design as well as selected interfaces. The aim is to examine and promote different, interconnected levels of sustainable design and support for change in a personal, social, organizational and institutional approach. Addressing urgent ecological and social challenges is combined with a reflective examination of the challenges and the development of transformation skills. In this way, the concept of transformative education is to be further developed, enabling profound change in a complex, dynamic world. This approach can also include elements of a leadership concept that reconciles social scope for action and decision-making with processes of self-design and personal development.
The future holder of the position contributes to the scientific profile of the University through excellent research achievements in the form of publications and peer-reviewed third-party funding. Tasks in the area of studies and teaching include, as a priority, a high-quality and innovative range of courses in the STS study programs. The further development of innovative study formats at the interface to other faculties of the KU is a prerequisite. In addition to the development of an inter- and transdisciplinary program in research, teaching and transfer, the focus is on the development of educational materials for personal development and sustainable social design. The expansion of further development and continuing education formats with regard to transformative personal and social education is expected, as is the establishment of further education and training programs with a focus on leadership responsibility and leadership in business and society.In addition, The future holder of the position will be involved in the University's Third Mission Strategy, cooperate with other subjects and universities as well as with non-university partners. Overall, active involvement in society and civic engagement is part of STS's self-image. STS sees itself as an interdisciplinary faculty with the aim of subject-specific networking with other KU faculties. The future holder of the position is expected to participate in interdisciplinary and cross-faculty projects. They are required to cooperate with the team and assume responsibility in academic self-administration.

The requirements for employment are based on Art. 57 Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act ( BayHIG ) and include, in addition to the general requirements of the position, at least a completed university degree, an educational suitability, the special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, as well as additional scientific achievements. These can be demonstrated by a habilitation, a junior professorship or through equivalent scientific achievements, which can also be achieved outside the university sector. Managing a junior research group constitutes an equivalent scientific achievement under the conditions specified in Art. 98 para. 10 s. 5 BayHIG.
When appointed as a civil servant, the successful candidate must not be older than 52 years of age at the time of appointment.
The KU pursues a policy of intensive student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to spend an appropriate amount of time on campus.
