Lead Software Engineer (PHP, Language Agnostic, OOP)

Tech Lead | Modern Fintech Platform | Düsseldorf or Remote within Germany

We're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to help shape the future of a product used by hundreds of thousands of people. This is an opportunity to take ownership of both the technical direction and the professional growth of a team within one of Europe’s leading fintech platforms.

In this role, you’ll work as part of a cross-functional team to build software that makes a real difference—collaborating with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions. You’ll lead by example, writing production-ready code while helping set engineering direction and supporting the development of your team.

What you'll be doing :

• Leading a team of engineers, supporting their growth through mentoring, code reviews, and regular feedback
• Taking an active role in architectural decisions and defining engineering direction
• Staying hands-on, writing clean, maintainable code using modern object-oriented practices
• Collaborating with product and business teams to deliver user-focused features
• Driving engineering best practices and helping to evolve our internal standards
• Building and running services on AWS with modern DevOps tooling

What we’re looking for :

• Experience leading engineering teams or acting as a senior developer with a strong mentoring mindset
• Solid experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., PHP, Java, C# or similar)
• Comfortable designing systems in a modern cloud environment (preferably AWS)
• A collaborative, team-first approach and strong communication skills
• A user-focused mindset : you care about solving meaningful problems, not just writing code
• Familiarity with agile development practices and continuous delivery
• Bonus : experience with event-driven architecture or tools like Kafka
