We are Helmholtz Munich. In a rapidly changing world, we discover breakthrough solutions for better health.
Our research is focused within the areas of metabolic health/diabetes, environmental health, molecular targets and therapies, cell programming and repair, bioengineering, and computational health. We particularly excel in the fields of basic research, bioengineering, artificial intelligence, and technological development.
This is what drives us. Why not join us and make a difference?
The Institute of Experimental Genetics (IEG) aims to further the understanding of mechanisms underlying human diseases' etiology. Metabolic diseases with a focus on diabetes are key areas of research. Experimental set-ups are centered on the mouse as a pre-clinical model organism with direct translation of results to humans.
The group Functional Genetics investigates molecular pathways and pathophysiological events that lead to diabetes and transfer the results into the development of novel strategies for diagnosis, prevention and therapy. As part of our focus on monogenic forms of diabetes, we offer talented candidates (f/m/x) the opportunity to start an exciting PhD project in performing gene therapy on mouse models and evaluating their therapeutic efficacy by in-depth phenotyping.
