Kalibrationsexperte für Verbrennungsmotoren (m/w/d)

Join us to apply for the Kalibrationsexperte für Verbrennungsmotoren (m/w/d) role at 43 WEST.

Are you looking for your dream job as a Calibration-Expert (m/w/d) in the field of exhaust gas cleaning? Do you have several years of experience in tuning engine control units for emission treatment and want to contribute to uncovering illegal defeat devices in engine control software to promote cleaner diesel vehicles? Are you motivated by working in a small and dedicated team, with the freedom to bring in and realize your own ideas? Do you value the benefits of flexible work-from-home arrangements? If you want to balance family and career without wasting time on daily commutes, then apply with us.

The 43 IT GmbH is a small, rapidly growing company organized as a fully remote company. We work entirely from home and follow the remote strategy of GitLab. We analyze engine control software related to the 'Dieselgate' scandal and prepare expert reports. To strengthen our team in the search for defeat devices, we are looking for a Calibration-Expert (m/w/d) with experience in engine exhaust gas cleaning.

Responsibilities

  • Participation in the analysis team as a technical expert for exhaust aftertreatment.
  • Research and analysis of technical documents and scientific publications.
  • Investigation and evaluation of engine control software tuning regarding illegal defeat devices in exhaust gas treatment.
  • Design of road tests to identify unknown defeat devices and verify findings from software analysis.
  • Analysis of measurement data to document these defeat devices.
  • Preparation of measurement data and creation of technical reports for courts, mostly in English.
  • Analysis of engine control software using disassemblers or decompilers.

Profile

  • Deep knowledge of exhaust gas aftertreatment in diesel engines, especially SCR systems, NSC catalysts, and other emission-enhancing measures such as altered injection behavior or exhaust gas recirculation.
  • Several years of experience in tuning engine control units in this field.
  • University degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field.
  • PhD is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Python, C/C++, and ideally Java.
  • Experience with development processes and version control (e.g., GitLab, Scrum).
  • Willingness to work permanently from home.
  • Excellent German and English skills.
  • Position available in part-time or full-time.
