Senior Procurement Manager - Germany - 12-Month Contract

A global pharmaceutical company requires an experienced Procurement Manager with expertise in managing complex procurement activities on major investment projects.

The Senior Procurement Manager will lead a large capital investment programme throughout the entire project lifecycle, supporting site needs for capital/facility delivery, contract administration, and sourcing supplies and services.

Reporting to the Procurement Director, this individual will be responsible for managing procurement for a highly complex CAPEX project.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Conduct commercial evaluation and advise on incoming bids (equipment, engineering suppliers).
  2. Drive internal approval processes for contracts.
  3. Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., legal, SMEs, finance).
  4. Serve as escalation point for ongoing supplier issues.
  5. Support technical SMEs with commercial questions.
  6. Proactively identify and address delays to contractual milestones.
  7. Participate in project meetings, providing updates on document submissions.
  8. Communicate updates and mitigations to relevant stakeholders.
  9. Review status reports, identify potential problems, and initiate mitigation actions.
  10. Visit field sites and suppliers regularly to assess progress and status.
  11. Provide reporting and updates on procurement packages.
  12. Manage RFQ processes, including strategy, tendering, evaluation, negotiations, and contracting.
  13. Maintain meticulous records and handle administrative tasks, including RFQ tools.
  14. Resolve problems pragmatically and efficiently.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • Project management expertise.
  • Understanding of logistics and warehousing; analytical and organizational skills.
  • Project planning and implementation capabilities.
  • Broad manufacturing business knowledge.
  • Strong commercial skills.
  • Experience delivering capital projects exceeding $1 million.
  • Degree in Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in English and German.
