Referent:in für Kommunikation & Events (w/m/d)

Join us to apply for the Referent:in für Kommunikation & Events (w/m/d) role at Berliner Institut für Governance & Leadership.

We are a training and research institute founded in 2024, focusing on good corporate governance. Our aim is to strengthen engaged corporate governance actors advocating for responsible and sustainable corporate management. Through our research, training, and dialogue programs, we seek to pioneer new paths for greater effectiveness in corporate governance.

Together with our members and extended network, we foster a community of active supervisory board members, advisory board members, and corporate governance experts committed to a new understanding of responsible supervisory work in Germany and internationally.

We are looking for a Referent:in (w/m/d) for Communication & Events (50-70%, initially limited to one year)) to join our small Berlin team. The role involves developing the institute's dialogue, networking, and public relations activities in close collaboration with the board and management. This position is especially suitable for applicants with initial experience in communication, event, and project management or re-entrants with relevant qualifications returning to work after a break.

Your responsibilities:

  1. Managing the institute's internal and external communication independently
  2. Online editorial work, website management, content management system maintenance, and database updates
  3. Managing and developing our LinkedIn channel, including performance analysis and success measurement
  4. Creating and designing visual communication media
  5. Writing and proofreading publications
  6. Supporting the planning, organization, and execution of events and dialogue formats on sustainability and corporate governance topics
  7. Assisting with strategic press work
  8. Building and maintaining our member and alumni network
  9. Research tasks supporting research and project acquisition
  10. Monitoring current topics and trends and developing new ideas
  11. Representing the institute to members, funding organizations, partners, participants, and the public
  12. Optional: Writing content contributions on good corporate governance topics (e.g., articles, podcasts, conference contributions)

What you bring:

  1. Completed university degree and/or comparable qualification in communication, media management, PR, marketing, journalism, event management, or similar
  2. At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in managing online communication and public relations
  3. Experience with common content management systems; ability to quickly learn new tools (WordPress experience is a plus)
  4. Excellent knowledge of current social media landscape and routine in managing institutional LinkedIn channels
  5. Confident interaction with our main target group, strong presentation skills
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German (native level) and English (business fluent)
  7. Self-directed and structured working style
  8. Hands-on mentality and willingness to take on various roles in a young organization

Nice to have:

  • Practical knowledge in producing short videos, graphic content, podcasts, including common software like Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva
  • Interest and prior knowledge in corporate governance, sustainability/ESG topics
  • Experience in project acquisition and management
  • Experience working with and managing service providers
  • Varied and attractive tasks with responsibility and growth opportunities
  • Autonomous work, flexible hours, and a modern Berlin office from September
