Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The Sourcing Manager will lead sourcing projects to help Intuitive Surgical procure the best services and products at competitive costs. This role is responsible for managing and executing sourcing strategies across various procurement categories, working closely with other business units to generate value and impact for our operations.

This individual will oversee strategic sourcing projects from initiation to completion, including vendor research, market analysis, data analysis, RFP development, bid management, negotiations, and post-bid activities such as contract management and vendor relations. The role requires managing multiple projects simultaneously and supporting ad-hoc sourcing inquiries.

Effective collaboration with finance and business stakeholders is essential. Strong project management and communication skills are crucial as this role involves interaction with diverse teams and suppliers to facilitate cross-functional sourcing activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Drive Strategic Sourcing and RFP Process Execution:

  • Collaborate with spend owners to establish and execute renewal and maintenance strategies
  • Conduct detailed market and vendor research, communicating findings through comprehensive summaries
  • Develop and manage sourcing project timelines, lead meetings
  • Create RFPs and complex bidding spreadsheets
  • Manage RFP or sourcing processes independently for projects of varying complexity, including market research, stakeholder communication, and process management
  • Evaluate vendor responses both quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Facilitate development of award scenarios and provide recommendations for stakeholder decision-making

Contract Negotiation, Development, and Management:

  • Review contracts and spend data to identify sourcing opportunities
  • Coordinate with contract owners and Legal to address concerns
  • Guide contract negotiations collaboratively with stakeholders
  • Partner with legal to negotiate favorable contract terms, minimizing risk

Ad-Hoc Analysis and Project Support:

  • Assist in updating project roadmaps and cost savings tracking
  • Develop and deliver presentations for internal stakeholders and review team deliverables

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, supply chain, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience, including 2-4 years in procurement and contract negotiation
  • Experience across multiple sourcing categories preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Conceptual thinking and ability to lead through ambiguity
  • Experience managing change across stakeholder groups
  • Excellent negotiation skills, capable of influencing senior leadership
  • Proficiency in contract and vendor negotiations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English and German

Desired Skills:

  • CPCM or ISM certification preferred
