VIE – Germany – Software developer - Project PET (d/m/w)

Job Description:

First Task - Project PET

Work placement in the area of further development of software for setting up and planning the assembly of mobile emergency hospitals (d/m/w).

  • Location: Friedrichshafen/Lake Constance
  • Start: February 2025 (flexible)

The specific project involves software that is already in use for planning the construction and technical infrastructure of mobile facilities, such as mobile hospitals (e.g., autonomous, modular rescue centers made of containers and tents, with comprehensive medical infrastructure), for crisis and disaster operations. This planning software uses Microsoft Visio as a drawing engine to generate two-dimensional and three-dimensional views and plans.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Software development with Microsoft .net and the “game engine” Unity.
  • The database used in the product is to be converted and migrated from MS Access to a suitable key-value database. For this purpose, the underlying database model is to be examined/optimized and a suitable database is to be found. The database maintenance functions are also to be implemented.

Required knowledge and qualifications for this project

  • Enrolled full-time student in the field of computer science/media design or a comparable field of study.
  • Programming experience in VB.Net, C# or database programming languages (e.g., SQL).
  • Knowledge of Visual Studio, Unity.
  • Knowledge in the use of common 3D modelling software (e.g., Blender, 3DS Max) and the use of UV mapping.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming.
  • Confidence in using the MS Office product range.
  • Experience with data migration and preparation.
  • Enthusiasm for technology and creativity in finding solutions.
  • An independent way of working and enjoy realizing challenging solutions and working in a team.
  • Language skills: English. German would be also recommended.

Second Task – Project IMS

The project environment:

The specific project involves software that ensures that products remain ready for use even after delivery. To this end, the software offers a collaboration platform on which various industrial partners and customers can work together. Thanks to clever data exchange mechanisms, the software can be used worldwide, even in areas with inadequate infrastructure.

As part of the internship, further parts of the existing software are to be optimized for web-based use.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Support in the development of web applications, e.g., front-end development and optimization.
  • Adaptation to existing Domino application.
  • Integration of HCL Domino in a mobile environment.
  • Extension of the graphical user interface.
  • Support with troubleshooting.
  • Learning new technologies and tools.

Desired skills and qualifications for this project

  • Enrolled full-time student (d/m/w) in a Bachelor's/Master's degree program in computer science, media informatics, media design, game design or similar.
  • Programming skills in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Backend technologies, in Node.js, Java or PHP.
  • Basic knowledge of working with databases.
  • Experience in mobile app development is an advantage.
  • Language skills: English. German would be also recommended.
