About the department
The Department of Engineering provides services and technical expertise for onshore wind farms, photovoltaic, and battery electric storage systems. These services cover the entire project lifecycle from early development (greenfield or repowering), including specification, tendering, and design, through to construction and operations. The Site Assessment and Modelling team within Project Engineering Germany specializes in layout design, energy calculations, and wind measurement data from remote sensing devices and meteorological masts.
About the role
Based in Hamburg, Hanover, or Essen in Germany, you will coordinate and install wind monitoring equipment, manage data collection, and analyze wind, energy, and load-related climate data for our onshore wind farm sites.
Your Tasks
- Coordinate installation, refurbishment, and decommissioning of monitoring equipment; provide services to prospecting, development, operations, and third-party clients (wind and acoustics).
- Manage data collection, storage, and processing from meteorological masts, remote sensing, and third-party sources.
- Ensure quality documentation of measurement systems and campaigns, including technical design, installation, maintenance, and calibration certificates.
- Monitor measurement results continuously to ensure data quality and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Plan and perform maintenance and repairs on measurement systems.
- Analyze measurement data using industry-standard or equivalent in-house software (e.g., Windographer, MMMT, Smart Data Pipeline).
- Support power performance and noise monitoring activities.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including wind and yield analysts, project development teams, safety, landowners, suppliers, and transport companies, from installation to decommissioning.
- Review technical, planning, and tender documents; evaluate bids; assist in contract negotiations with suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with international standards for wind system design and safety standards for fieldwork.
- Possess vocational training with relevant experience or a university degree in engineering or a related field.
- Have extensive experience with measurement networks, data logging, and storage systems.
- Demonstrate stakeholder and project management skills.
- Possess basic knowledge of logistics and electronics.
- Maintain good physical fitness for outdoor work in tough environments.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Be willing to travel within Germany for short periods.
- Have proficiency in German and English.
- Hold a valid driver's license, including towing a trailer.
