Job Description:

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (d/m/w) for Airspace Control C2 Solutions in Friedrichshafen. Our solutions support air force operators and command centers in airspace management, air traffic control, surveillance, flight operations, and ground-based air defense.

In the Airspace Control C2 Solutions division, we design and develop airspace surveillance systems that reliably calculate and provide air situation data. These systems are continuously evolving through sensor network enhancements, enabling new applications and optimizations.

We are looking for support in software development focused on data processing. This position can also be adapted for reduced working hours and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding with existing software components and algorithms
• Design and modeling of complex software and interfaces with military and civilian systems
• Support in design, implementation, testing, and integration of software extensions
• Assistance with continuous integration and deployment environments
• Development and maintenance of the development environment

Qualifications

• Degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, or related field
• Strong knowledge in applied mathematics, especially statistical methods
• Proficiency in Java, Ada, and Python
• Experience with modern databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Hibernate
• Experience with agile methodologies such as SCRUM or KANBAN
• Experience in designing and integrating complex software systems is a plus
• Linux skills (shell scripting, deployment) are advantageous
• Knowledge of airspace surveillance is desirable
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
