Job Description

We are seeking a leading expert with an internationally visible profile in research, teaching, and patient care to fill the role of Full Professor of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy. The successful candidate will oversee the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, which encompasses various disciplines in psychology and psychotherapy, including associated departments for child and adolescent mental health, psychosomatic medicine, and psychotherapy.

The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills, extensive research and departmental management experience, and the ability to manage staff and organizational responsibilities. The professorship involves collaboration in research networks within the Faculty of Medicine and teaching students across various programs, including Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, Medical Process Management, Midwifery Sciences, and Logopedics.

Applicants should have an excellent academic record, substantial international research experience, and a proven track record in managing research projects and securing third-party funding. A university degree, an outstanding doctoral degree, and postdoctoral qualifications such as a habilitation or equivalent are required. Candidates must also hold a license to practice medicine in psychiatry and psychotherapy.

Fluency in English and German is preferred, and the candidate should demonstrate academic leadership, support for early-career researchers, and alignment with FAU’s strategic goals. The university values diversity, equality, and a family-friendly environment.
