We are looking for a Senior CAT Risk Research Analyst (m / f / d), based in Munich.

Driving the development of processes and tools, as well as integrating new products across all lines of business in various regions, with a focus on the global reach of the Allianz Commercial portfolio and the specific nature of the business, is our main objective.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Head of CAT Risk Solutions, you will identify and quantify major accumulation risks to develop risk mitigation and control mechanisms, ensuring Allianz Commercial's financial solvency. Your focus will include validating probabilistic Cat Models, developing geospatial solutions using GIS, handling Non-Modeled Exposures, and leading projects on new technologies and process automation.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include :

• Assess, validate, and run probabilistic catastrophe loss models; prepare data extracts, analyses, reports, and documentation.
• Provide consultancy and explain CAT Modeling results to relevant departments.
• Develop geospatial tools and solutions, promoting them to internal clients to improve business processes.
• Evaluate and implement procedures for exposures not currently modeled, supporting global accumulation control, risk capital modeling, and actuarial pricing.
• Monitor natural disasters and perform post-event analyses to support business functions in near real-time.
• Lead small to medium projects, overseeing design, scope, execution, and delivery.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders such as CUO LoBs, Actuarial, and Pricing teams to ensure tool adoption and process improvements.
• Evaluate vendor software, GIS applications, and other technological upgrades to drive innovation and change.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• Degree in Geosciences, Geoinformatics, Geography, Engineering, Physics, Informatics, or Mathematics.
• At least 3 years of experience in the re/insurance industry sector.
• Experience with geospatial tools, including customer support.
• Understanding of underwriting practices for industrial risks and global corporate business.
• Proficiency in catastrophe modeling software (e.g., RMS, Verisk, OASIS) and GIS applications.
• Skills in PC software (Excel, PowerPoint) and programming languages (SQL, Python).
• Strong analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects in a deadline-driven environment.
• Effective communication skills to present complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
