WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

We will soon be founding a separate company within our Agricultural Solutions division, which will employ our staff on a permanent basis. Until then, you will be employed by BASF SE on a temporary basis with a binding promise of permanent employment in the new company.

Intellectual Property (IP) is crucial for Agricultural Solutions (AP) to secure its revenue and licensing business. We are seeking a Head of IP Operations to lead our global, multi-tiered IP Operations team within AP’s newly established IP unit.

1. As Head of IP Operations, you will oversee the local disciplinary and global operational management of AP's IP backbone.
2. You will manage all IP clerks (IP paralegals and IP administration) across locations in the USA, Ghent, Nunhems, Limburgerhof, including coordination with patent attorneys globally.
3. You will be responsible for the central IP management system (IPMS), ensuring quality, adapting to global legal changes, and driving digital process innovation.
4. You will handle interface management and optimization with patent offices, internal and external IP service providers, and global IP law firms.
5. You will oversee the quality management of all IP processes, develop KPIs, analysis, reporting tools, and oversee procurement of IP legal and IT services.

WHAT YOU OFFER

• Qualification as patent attorney or equivalent, with a master’s degree in a scientific field and legal qualification, with at least 8 years in IP and 5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience with IP management systems like Anaquas IPMS, including AI tools and service providers.
• Ability to analyze legal regulations, draw conclusions, communicate effectively, and implement necessary actions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong relationship-building mindset and entrepreneurial spirit.
