Role Overview

This role reports to the Head of International Employee Relations in the UK and is responsible for managing all labour and employee relations cases in Germany, based in Munich.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage relationship with Works Council, including planning, preparation, and activity management; maintain shared database.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on ER issues such as performance management, investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations, severance, redundancy, and HR policies.
  • Provide advice/support to employees, managers, and HR through investigations, complaint responses, and ensuring compliance with German regulations.
  • Support business change processes like acquisitions, restructurings, and reorganizations.
  • Offer insights on employment principles, workplace investigations, and critical incident management.
  • Review and revise ER policies; propose and negotiate Works Council agreements.
  • Create change management and communication plans; analyze employee relations data to develop programs for a positive work environment.
  • Design and facilitate training on HR policies and best practices.
  • Collaborate across functions, including Legal, and hold regular stakeholder meetings.

Additionally, support cross-border investigations and projects within the international ER team.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years managing German Employee Relations, with a BS or BA degree; employment law degree preferred.
  • Fluent in German and English; excellent communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge of HR principles, employment law, and practices in Germany.
  • Experience in dynamic environments, influencing skills, and ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Operational knowledge of HR tools such as Workday, ServiceNow, Office365.
