Advanced Quality Engineer
Purpose
The Senior Quality Engineer's role is to manage and control the product/technology development lifecycle to ensure adherence to design, testing, and release standards which meet and exceed customer expectations and reliability requirements.
Tasks
- Provides technical / professional advice and operational guidance to Product Development Teams and other internal stakeholders to support quality, best-practice adherence, and reliability improvements over time.
- Defines processes and requirements in selecting methods like control plans, FMEA's and other techniques which improve the quality and reliability of new technologies.
- Leads CAPA investigations for products that are not handed over to operations or quality initiatives requiring extensive R&D involvement, and actively support during implementation / handover.
- Drives Risk Management activities with cross functional teams and challenge concepts and ensures reliability is a fundamental aspect of the design.
- Monitors the execution of Verification Test Plans and actively participates in assembly and testing activities.
- Provides technical support and approval for new supplier selection to R&D projects to achieve desired quality and reliability level of product developments.
- Actively contributes to the design and definition of the Project Development Process and related Stage Gates and reviews and assesses both the quality and completeness of deliverables against this process.
- Gathers internal Customer Feedback and operational reliability statistics as input into the product development process to assure quality and reliability outputs meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Collaborates extensively with the product managers and project managers to support them actively in quality related aspects concerning their products and projects.
Requirements
- A degree in electronics or mechanics.
- Internal auditing qualification (ISO 9001) is required.
- Experience creating and leading risk management documentation such as Failure Mode Effect Analysis (Design, Process, Use/Misuse), Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis is required.
- Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis and familiarity with tools such as 8-Discipline, DMAIC, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis, Contradiction Matrices.
- Experience with the creation and execution of testing plans (DVP&R, Trace Matrix).
- 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience in an R&D environment, preferably in Design Assurance or Product Development with mechatronic products.
- Familiarity with Measurement System Analysis or Test Method Validation.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Reliability Engineer nice to have.
- Six Sigma Certification in Lean Design nice to have.
- Reliability experience, such as determining Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) or Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of Industry standards (e.g. API 1163, POF) strongly preferred.
