Intro

For our client, a leading global provider of financial services, specializing in contracts for difference (CFDs) and other derivative products we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel. Headquartered in London and listed on the FTSE 250, it operates across 19 international locations. With more than 2,500 employees worldwide (as of 2022), the firm serves around 346,000 clients (as of 2024) and generated revenues of just under £1 billion in 2024.

Setup

As the company continues to expand across continental Europe, we are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to strengthen its legal function outside the UK. Based in Frankfurt, the role will take a leading position in supporting the company’s operations in Germany – its largest market outside the UK – as well as coordinating legal matters across Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Sweden. The successful candidate will work closely with the Group General Counsel in the UK and collaborate with senior business leaders across Europe and the UK.

Aufgaben

  • Provide strategic legal advice across the company’s European operations, with a focus on financial services, derivatives, and banking regulation.
  • Support the management of BaFin‑regulated entities and the company’s German banking licence.
  • Advise on commercial contracts, partnerships, and product development within a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment.
  • Serve as a trusted legal partner to senior stakeholders, combining technical expertise with commercial pragmatism.
  • Oversee external counsel and coordinate cross‑border legal projects.

Ihr Profil

  • Fully German qualified lawyer
  • Solid post‑qualification experience in financial services, ideally from a leading bank, fintech, or tech‑oriented organization.
  • Strong understanding of banking, financial regulation, IT and commercial law.
  • Hands‑on, agile and able to operate autonomously while engaging across multiple jurisdictions.
  • “Go‑getter” attitude with drive, business acumen and a proactive mindset.
  • Fluency in English required; German or another European language is an advantage.

Highlights

  • A high‑impact role within a FTSE 250 leader in online trading and investment.
  • Collegiate, international environment with direct exposure to senior decision‑makers.
  • Competitive compensation package
  • Modern workplace in Frankfurt and hybrid working model.
