Mazda Motor Europe is seeking an experienced and committed Legal Counsel (m/f/d) to join our team in the Legal / Data Privacy department.
Responsibilities
Provide legal advice on Digital Law with a strong focus on Data (Protection) Law and IT Law, and additional exposure to AI Law (incl. AI Act compliance and governance), Digital Services Law, Telecommunication Law, and Data Act / Connected Products.
Act as a lead lawyer within the digital domain for business teams in the areas of Digital Customer Engagement, Media Strategy, Data & AI Strategy, and Connected Vehicles.
Support the Head of Data Law & Regulatory Advice in building and further developing the data protection and AI compliance organization, including processes and systems.
Act as an interface between business departments, IT, and the Data Protection Officer, ensuring pragmatic and legally sound solutions.
Translate new and evolving legal requirements into practical and implementable guidance for Mazda products and digital services.
Review, draft and negotiate technology and data-related agreements (e.g. DPAs, cloud/SaaS, data sharing) where required.
Promote legal and regulatory awareness and support compliant decision-making across the organization.
Qualifications
Completed law degree with several years of professional experience, with a strong focus on data protection and IT law.
Solid knowledge of EU data protection law and digital regulation, ideally in an international or corporate environment.
Proven experience advising internal stakeholders on operational and strategic data protection topics.
Strong ability to translate between legal, technical, and business requirements.
Hands‑on stakeholder management skills in cross‑functional settings (Business, IT, DPO).
Willingness and curiosity to develop expertise in new regulatory areas within the digital and AI landscape.
Fluent in German and English.
Excellent analytical skills and a pragmatic, solution‑oriented mindset.
