We are looking for a Principal Consultant in the area of Underground and Submarine Power Cables.

You will be part of the Power Cables Team, helping our customers achieve sustainable, world-class cable systems.

The projects you will execute are for electrical asset owners, project developers, manufacturers, insurers, or other parties dealing with high voltage AC or DC power cable systems. Our team in Arnhem holds a leading position globally in expertise and experience. Work is international, often in cooperation with other DNV offices (Korea, Canada, Dubai, Singapore, China).

You will provide engineering and consultancy services worldwide in the utility and manufacturing industries. You will manage and execute power cable projects and deliver high-quality content based on your understanding of our market.

The electric grid is expected to undergo significant changes in the coming years.

As a Principal Consultant, you will lead the Power Cable cluster of approximately 10 cable experts, with ambitions to grow. You will also undertake consulting work and act as project manager in the cable consulting domain.

The primary role remains that of an individual contributor, providing high-level consulting or advisory services. Client contact, site visits, meetings, and conferences are part of this role.

Your tasks and responsibilities :

  1. Plan and resource multiple projects involving your team to ensure timely and within-budget delivery;
  2. Coordinate resource allocation with other team leads and department heads;
  3. Ensure work meets standards and follows best practices;
  4. Create a positive team environment;
  5. Manage performance and goal setting;
  6. Share lessons learned and latest developments within the team;
  7. Support recruitment, training, and performance management;
  8. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training;
  9. Hold regular meetings for feedback and development;
  10. Support competence development and coaching;
  11. Review and approve project proposals and deliverables as needed;
  12. Assist in promoting team and department strategies;
  13. Contribute to AOP development;
  14. Engage in advisory projects and third-party projects within the power and submarine cable domain.

Your home office can be in Arnhem (Netherlands) or Dresden/Schönefeld (Germany).

Required qualifications :

  • 7+ years of experience as a Senior Consultant or higher in Power Cables;
  • Professional approach and role model for junior staff;
  • Strong prioritization and management skills;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, fluent in English, Dutch, and German;
  • Proven proposal and report writing skills;
  • Ability to handle complex technical problems and guide others;
  • Leadership potential, patience, and effective communication;
  • Curiosity, engagement, and flexibility for travel;
  • Experience in industry working groups and networking;
  • Experience presenting at industry events.
