At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 84,700 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Software Development Engineer in Mannheim we're looking for?

Your future role:

Take on a new challenge and apply your software and control system expertise in a cutting-edge field. You'll report to Dung TRAN (Software and Control TCIS Domain Leader) and work alongside passionate, motivated, and dedicated teammates.

No two days are the same, but day-to-day, you will work closely with teams across the company to maintain and develop the Train Control System for our current and future Traxx Locomotives and more.

You will specifically take care of Traxx Locomotives TCMS Software but also contribute to other train control-related projects and continuously improve our processes and tools.

What we look for in you:

We value passion and attitude over experience. While we don't expect you to have every skill listed, here are some that will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Relevant degree or work experience
  • Knowledge of EN 50657, EN 50716, EN 50128, and EN 50129 standards
  • Experience in electrical and schematic design activities (valuable)
  • Knowledge of network technologies (beneficial: MVB, CAN, IP, TCOM, TRDP)
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Team spirit and willingness to cooperate
  • Commitment and initiative

What you'll enjoy:

Join us on a lifelong transformative journey. The rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You will also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring routines
  • Work with the latest railway industry standards for safe train control systems and software
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and helpful colleagues
  • Contribute to innovative projects

Utilize our hybrid working environment:

  • Steer your career in any direction across functions and countries
  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning
  • Progress towards a technical expert role in the TC community and transverse development opportunities
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package recognizing your performance and potential, including comprehensive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with friends or family, you'll be proud. If you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
