We invite you to join our team in Essen or München as a (Senior) Energy Engineer - Asset Integration & Operation (f/m/d). This role offers the chance to contribute to E.ON’s future and your own growth. We look forward to meeting you, because our strength lies in our collective effort.

Tasks

1. Manage the technical integration and operation of distributed energy resources (DERs) such as large-scale BESS, biogas plants, CHPs, solar parks, and wind farms into our virtual power plant platform.
2. Participate in projects developing, constructing, commissioning, and operating industrial-sized DERs across Europe (focus on Germany, UK, Netherlands).
3. Specify, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot technical interfaces between DERs and our VPP using protocols like Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 104, MQTT.
4. Act as level 1 support for the Short Term Trading team during asset, system, or communication outages, coordinating resolution with partners.
5. Build and maintain a partner and supplier network to enable international rollouts and ensure reliable asset operation.
6. Serve as the technical business interface to the software development team.
7. Ensure technical solutions meet market requirements for energy and flexibility markets.

Qualifications

1. University degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field.
2. At least two years of relevant experience in the technical integration and operation of industrial Decentral Energy Resources.
3. Experience with industrial automation protocols (Modbus, IEC 104, MQTT), SCADA systems, and virtual power plants.
4. Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), VPN, and firewall configuration is advantageous.
5. Passion for supporting the green energy transition and developing smart customer solutions.
6. Strong skills in network configuration, troubleshooting, and working with test benches.

Ability to interpret technical diagrams and assess connectivity or operational requirements.

• Enjoy working in diverse teams across Europe.
• Excellent English communication skills; knowledge of additional European languages is a plus.
