We invite you to join our team in Essen or München as a (Senior) Energy Engineer - Asset Integration & Operation (f/m/d). This role offers the chance to contribute to E.ON’s future and your own growth. We look forward to meeting you, because our strength lies in our collective effort.
Tasks
- Manage the technical integration and operation of distributed energy resources (DERs) such as large-scale BESS, biogas plants, CHPs, solar parks, and wind farms into our virtual power plant platform.
- Participate in projects developing, constructing, commissioning, and operating industrial-sized DERs across Europe (focus on Germany, UK, Netherlands).
- Specify, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot technical interfaces between DERs and our VPP using protocols like Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 104, MQTT.
- Act as level 1 support for the Short Term Trading team during asset, system, or communication outages, coordinating resolution with partners.
- Build and maintain a partner and supplier network to enable international rollouts and ensure reliable asset operation.
- Serve as the technical business interface to the software development team.
- Ensure technical solutions meet market requirements for energy and flexibility markets.
Qualifications
- University degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field.
- At least two years of relevant experience in the technical integration and operation of industrial Decentral Energy Resources.
- Experience with industrial automation protocols (Modbus, IEC 104, MQTT), SCADA systems, and virtual power plants.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), VPN, and firewall configuration is advantageous.
- Passion for supporting the green energy transition and developing smart customer solutions.
- Strong skills in network configuration, troubleshooting, and working with test benches.
Ability to interpret technical diagrams and assess connectivity or operational requirements.
- Enjoy working in diverse teams across Europe.
- Excellent English communication skills; knowledge of additional European languages is a plus.
