Engineering & Maintenance Manager (m/w/d)

Location: Werk Weingarten | Reports to: Werksleitung. Local presence and language skills are important to fulfill core tasks.

Overview

Engineering & Maintenance Manager (m/w/d) at PPG. The role is located in the Weingarten plant and leads the maintenance and facility activities to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the technical maintenance of all production plants, utility and building technology in the paint factory
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor maintenance, repair and modernization activities
  • Ensure equipment availability while complying with safety, environmental and quality standards (e.g., ATEX, WHG, ISO 9001, ISO 50001, IATF 16949)
  • Lead and develop the maintenance team and manage external service providers (six staff)
  • Budget responsibility for the Maintenance & Facility area
  • Contribute to investment projects, e.g., planning of new facilities or alterations
  • Optimize maintenance processes by introducing TPM, Lean or digital maintenance concepts
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements (e.g., BetrSichV, DGUV, VDE, VDI guidelines)
  • Own the implementation and further development of work safety standards in the Technik & Facility area
  • Conduct and document risk assessments, safety briefings and regular safety inspections
  • Collaborate closely with the safety officer, authorities and internal EHS functions

Qualifications

  • Completed studies in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process/utility engineering or equivalent qualification (e.g., technician/meister)
  • Several years of maintenance experience in a production environment, ideally in chemical industry or paint manufacturing
  • Solid knowledge of plant technology, building services, occupational safety and energy management
  • Experience in leading teams and using maintenance software (e.g., Mainti4)
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations (e.g., explosion protection, chemical substance regulation, Machinery Directive)
  • Initial experience with German environmental law (BImSchG), WHG and ATEX is a plus
  • Structured, solution-oriented work approach with high level of personal responsibility
  • Strong communication, assertiveness and hands-on mentality
  • Business-level German and English, written and spoken
