The KUIngolstadt School of Management invites applications for the

Professorship of Statistics and Quantitative Methods in Business and Economics (W3)

to be filled by April 01, 2026.

Your responsibilities

The candidate should represent the relevant subject area in an application-oriented manner with a focus on business and economics in the Faculty’s teaching and research practice. You contribute to the scientific profile of the University through excellent research achievements in the form of international publications and peer-reviewed third-party funding and through active participation in the doctoral program of the Faculty.

Teaching duties include active participation in courses taught in the German and English language at Bachelor's and Master's level offered by the Faculty itself or in which the Faculty is involved. You are expected to teach courses on descriptive, inductive and multivariate statistics, on machine learning methods as well as on decision techniques and identification of causal effects, in each case using computer-aided statistics and in particular the programming languages Python and/or R. In the high-quality and innovative courses offered, you take into account applications in business and economics and also teach interdisciplinary skills.

You are also expected to assume responsibility in academic self-administration and research transfer in line with the KU Mission Statement. In addition, you will be involved in the University's Third Mission Strategy, cooperate with other subjects and universities as well as with non-university partners.

Skills/Qualifications

Candidates will have internationally recognized research expertise in the field of statistics, demonstrated by methodological contributions in leading internationally peer-reviewed journals/books or in renowned publishing houses, and will also be able to provide evidence of publications in business and economics, preferably in business administration and management.

You have established national and international networks with renowned universities and/or non-university partners and have extensive experience and success in acquiring peer-reviewed third-party funding. In addition, you have extensive, varied teaching experience and very good didactic skills (proven, for example, by positive teaching evaluations, certificates in university didactics or teaching awards) as well as interdisciplinary qualifications (e.g. leadership skills, role model function, participation in interdisciplinary qualification and networking opportunities, high social skills, etc.). The successful candidate should have a very good command of the English language and should be prepared to teach courses both in German and English.

The requirements for employment are based on Art. 57 (1) Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act ( BayHIG ) and include, in addition to the general requirements of the position, at least a completed university degree in business administration, economics, statistics or a related field, an educational suitability, the special aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, as well as additional scientific achievements. These can be demonstrated by a habilitation, a junior professorship or through equivalent scientific achievements, which can also be achieved outside the university sector. Managing a junior research group constitutes an equivalent scientific achievement under the conditions specified in Art. 98 para. 10 s. 5 BayHIG.

When appointed as a civil servant, the successful candidate must not be older than 52 years of age at the time of appointment.

The KU pursues a policy of intensive student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to spend a significant amount of time on campus.
