YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Global Director Technical Services BSP will be primarily responsible for identifying and delivering commercially and operationally realistic, best practice, technical and operational solutions to site specific issues.
  • The role will involve the design, delivery & implementation of site-specific improvement strategies in recognition of change management.
  • A strong technically minded professional with working knowledge in the EPC services industry, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate proven experience in technical services.
  • This role requires an exceptional professional who has working knowledge and experience of the EPC services industry and key factors affecting it.

  • Be a naturally engaging, articulate and positive leader who can drive outstanding performance through others, whether direct reports, the wider team or service partners.
  • Strong contractor management skills. You should be comfortable working with changing evolving service contracts and ensuring best value and performance.
  • You will be monitoring closely the KPI performance of contractors and in-house teams, ensuring industry best practice and the highest standards for Brenntag.
  • Build transparency along each individual sub-project and project steps for all relevant stakeholders and coordinate any alerts that may arise.
  • Deal with the large investment of complex projects, including financial, operational and time challenges.
  • Drive concept development including specifications and make-or-buy-decisions.
  • Provision of SCS project and equipment standards, scope definition, guidelines, best practices including AIPS and maintenance.
  • Standardization of project management tools, templates and processes.
  • Act as custodian of global steering via KPI benchmarks.
  • Build a sustainable risk management system for all projects.
  • Define functionalities and capabilities of IT tools.
  • Enable the team to respond, ideally in an early stage, to future activities. Create synergies and integrate the new assets into best-in-class processes and structure.
  • Position himself/herself as a respected service provider and trusted business partner to the operational excellence team, the business, and its regional leadership teams.
  • Lead, delegate and execute contract control transparency, cost control and cost planning, project scheduling and project planning.
  • Effectively manage the demand on sustainable deliverables, building a positive fast-paced spirit, developing a strong team, and deliver sustainable results.
  • Analyze, develop, and maintain transparent processes to meet current and future needs of the operational sites and application laboratories. Delegating procedures where necessary.
  • Identify and drive cost and time gaps and traps in partnership with internal and external stakeholders for present and future projects.
  • Manage and enable the local team to respond effectively to present and future challenges: increase of project complexity, need for larger transparency, alert system, and impact of digitalization.
  • Ensure collaboration and alignment with the respective BES counterpart.

YOUR PROFILE

  • The relevant candidate has a proven career track-record of +10 years in a capital equipment, large-scale project, EPC, or Petro-chemical industrial environment with high profile organizations.
  • The new incumbent ideally has a successful working experience in a leadership role, with focus on manufacturing and operations. Financial acumen and commercial project management experience within an international organization is highly desired.
  • 15+ years of professional working experience in project management in EPC and construction, ideally within the chemical industry.
  • Experience in developing a project management team to top performance, through excellent leadership and communication skills; proven ability to recruit, motivate, develop, retain, and lead his/her team.
  • Strong project control and finance leadership background from a highly professional and international industrial company with relation to plant engineering, construction, automation, process industry, etc.
  • Familiar to work in a global/multinational and corporate environment and to gather a considerable part of his experience in comparable, technical, and capital-intensive dominated environments.
  • Ability to successfully develop and roll out a sustainable supply-chain/manufacturing strategy, and consequently developed and led successful sites in the relevant industries.
  • Demonstrated effective team-relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders. Understanding the demand of an organization and their dependence on reliable delivery.
  • Deep understanding of the essential principles of the broader value and supply chain management in relevant industrial industry sectors.
  • A senior level technical manager by nature and background, who is experienced in, and able to act, to deal and to operate at general management level.
  • An executive who has a (technical) strategic vision and approach but who is also open for, and able to understand and deal with more in-depth technical matters.
  • Education: A university degree or post-graduate degree in one of the following disciplines is required: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong and transparent leader, who is in line with Brenntag’s corporate culture, values, and core competencies.
  • Senior authority and personality with persuasiveness and excellent communication- and negotiation skills, who is accepted at all levels of the Brenntag organization.
  • Will be instantly credible professionally and will inspire passion and trust. Must be an active change agent, his/her style and posture will remain positive and not conflictual.
