Role accountabilities:

As a Cost Manager, you will develop effective cost, procurement, and commercial strategies, supporting clients throughout the project lifecycle—from initiation, procurement, bid evaluation, negotiation, to contract management—ensuring safe, cost-effective solutions for projects and programs.

  • Develop budget estimates and cost plans, from feasibility to detailed reviews.
  • Analyze forecasts, variances, and risks; develop measures for cost savings.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, assist with pricing, and draft tender documents.
  • Manage change orders post-project start, including reviews.
  • Review contracts, process payments, assess changes, and prepare cost control reports.
  • Generate financial progress reports, conduct cost analyses, and provide recommendations.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive cost database.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, planning, and site teams to ensure collaboration.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • 5+ years’ experience in cost control and financial management of construction projects, ideally Data Centers or large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical skills, and understanding of financial aspects of construction.
  • Excellent communication skills for stakeholder collaboration.
  • Proficiency in cost management software, MS Excel, MS Project, and similar tools.
  • Fluency in English; German proficiency is advantageous.
  • Adaptability to market and client demands.
  • Experience with AHO, HOAI, VOB, and international models like EPCM, FIDIC is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel within Germany and abroad as needed.
