Our client is seeking a senior-level Labour Law expert to take full ownership of employment legal matters in Germany. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role with no team management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Serve in a leadership role with full responsibility for the Labour Law department in Germany.
Act as the primary legal expert on German labour and employment law, providing authoritative guidance across the organisation.
Lead and manage one team member within the labour law function, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and supporting their professional development.
Advise senior leadership and HR on complex employee relations matters, compliance, contracts, and dispute resolution.
Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts and works council agreements.
Oversee external legal counsel and manage employment-related litigation and regulatory matters.
Ensure compliance with all applicable German labour laws, offering pragmatic, risk-based legal advice.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable business strategies.
Represent the company in interactions with works councils, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders.
Requirements
Fully qualified German lawyer (Zweites Staatsexamen) with 7–10+ years of experience.
Strong expertise in German labour and employment law (including works councils).
In-house or top-tier law firm background preferred.
Business-savvy, pragmatic, and confident working independently.
