Responsibilities

  1. Define, acquire, and enforce legally valid property rights (patents, trademarks, utility models, and registered designs) in Germany and abroad.
  2. Represent the Evonik Group and its cooperation partners before (inter)national authorities and courts independently.
  3. Challenge third-party property rights and defend against third-party attacks.
  4. Draft expert opinions and evaluate intellectual property rights of own and third parties in Germany and abroad before market launch and during research projects.
  5. Participate in and initiate the development and implementation of intellectual property rights strategies.
  6. Monitor and enforce compliance with regulations and legal provisions related to patents, utility models, trademarks, and employee inventions.
  7. Advise on research, cooperation, licensing, and confidentiality agreements.
  8. Review and approve new products, brochures, packaging, and publications.

Requirements

  1. Successfully completed studies in chemistry or chemical engineering, preferably in organic, inorganic, or polymer chemistry.
  2. Qualification as a professional representative before the European Patent Office or training as a German patent attorney with preparation for the EQE.
  3. Several years of professional experience in an industrial company, preferably in the chemical industry, or in a private law firm.
  4. Experience in collaborating with universities and research institutions is preferred.
  5. Proficiency in English; knowledge of French and/or German is desirable.
  6. Strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, customer focus, and a passion for research and innovation.
  7. Excellent communication skills and team spirit in an international environment.
  8. High initiative and flexibility.
