The Opportunity

Join a mission-critical IT / Development function supporting high-volume industrial production. As an IT Systems Administrator, you will manage a large, mixed Windows / Linux estate processing terabytes of data daily and supporting 80-100 servers. Your responsibilities will directly contribute to ensuring production continuity and data security in a PCI DSS environment. You'll work within a collaborative team, reporting to the Head of Development & IT, in close cooperation with production and management stakeholders. The working environment is stable, pragmatic, DevOps-minded, and supported by leadership that shields the team from external distractions.

Role Overview

  • Own day-to-day administration of Linux and Windows Server fleets (80-100 servers).
  • Manage enterprise storage at scale with a focus on reliability and performance.
  • Administer and optimize databases, primarily Microsoft SQL Server (some Oracle exposure; PostgreSQL knowledge is advantageous).
  • Enhance network security in a PCI DSS context, including firewalls, network segmentation, and secure connectivity.
  • Drive monitoring, logging, and observability using tools like Splunk (experience with Curator is a bonus).
  • Contribute to hardening and compliance initiatives across security baselines, including PCI DSS and ISO standards.
  • Collaborate with development and production teams for business continuity and fast incident response.
  • Support a virtualized infrastructure (VMware).

Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows Server administration.
  • Solid database skills, especially in Microsoft SQL Server, with exposure to Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience in managing large-scale storage operations.
  • Strong networking fundamentals with a security-first approach.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices in IT security.
  • Exposure to monitoring and logging platforms like Splunk.
  • Fluent in German for effective collaboration.
  • Nice-to-have skills include experience in high-volume production settings, familiarity with Curator and PostgreSQL, a background in scripting / automation, and additional security certifications.
