THE ROLE
As Director IT Infrastructure (m/f/d), you will lead IGEL’s global infrastructure landscape, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance across all core systems. You will drive modernization, automation, and operational excellence while leading two key teams — IT Service Desk and IT Core Infrastructure.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the global IT Infrastructure organization, covering network, server, cloud, storage, and endpoint operations
- Manage more than 2,300 virtual machines (VMs) across global data centers and cloud environments
- Oversee and evolve IGEL’s global network infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability
- Ensure enterprise-grade patch management, lead the patch teams, and guarantee compliance with security standards
- Direct and develop two teams: IT Service Desk and IT Core Infrastructure
- Define and implement IGEL’s infrastructure strategy aligned with business, compliance, and security goals
- Introduce automation and infrastructure-as-code methodologies (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell)
- Ensure robust monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery frameworks are in place
- Drive modernization of hybrid cloud environments (Azure, VMware, M365, Intune)
- Collaborate closely with Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, and Applications teams
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and budgets efficiently
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Management, with 3+ years in a leadership position
- Proven track record in managing large-scale virtualized environments
- Strong experience with global network architectures
- Hands‑on expertise in Linux systems administration and hybrid cloud operations
- Experience leading patch management programs and coordinating global patch teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft technologies (Azure, M365, Intune, Active Directory) as well as VMware
- Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell)
- Familiarity with enterprise technology environments and ITIL‑based service operations
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a pragmatic, delivery‑focused mindset
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- Fluent English skills (German is a plus)
