Head of Grid Connections

A leading renewable energy developer committed to driving the energy transition is looking for a grid manager for their centre of excellent technical team in Brandenburg.

Role Overview

As Head of Grid Connection, you will lead and manage the Grid Connection team comprised of 6 engineers, overseeing the development and implementation of grid solutions for renewable energy projects. This is a strategic role with significant responsibility and visibility across the organisation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop cost‑effective grid connection solutions for onshore wind, PV and BESS projects.
  • Plan and design electrical infrastructure (substations, transfer stations, transformer stations, cable networks).
  • Prepare technical specifications and tender documents.
  • Secure grid connection approvals with DSOs/TSOs.
  • Design grid connections in compliance with regulations and grid codes.
  • Perform grid calculations and evaluate concepts economically.
  • Coordinate substation projects and active installations.
  • Oversee commissioning and certification processes.
  • Liaise with grid operators and service providers.
  • Communicate internally with development, construction and technical teams.
  • Report regularly to management and technical leadership.

Your Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of grid connection planning for renewables in Germany.
  • High voltage experience linked to grid connections.
  • Established network with DSOs and TSOs.
  • Experience with grid calculation tools (DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS SINCAL, E‑Plan, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with current standards (VDE‑AR‑N 4110, VDE‑AR‑N 4120, etc.).
