General Field Sales & Account Management work focuses on face-to-face selling and account management activities, including:

• Face-to-face sales to new customers and cross/up/repeat sales to existing customers.
• Assessing customer needs and suggesting appropriate products, services, and solutions.
• Developing and delivering sales bids, proposals, presentations, and conducting product demonstrations.
• Developing medium to long-term sales plans and strategies to protect, grow, and diversify relationships with targeted customers. Incumbents may sell directly to the ultimate purchaser or indirectly through channel partners.

Responsibilities may include applying practical knowledge of the job area, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience:

• Works independently with general supervision.
• Faces difficult but not complex problems.
• May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices.
