Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze failed battery cells, modules, and packs from production lines, customer returns, or field failures.
  2. Conduct physical, chemical, and electrical testing to identify failure modes and mechanisms.
  3. Perform detailed root cause analysis using tools like FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and 8D problem-solving methodologies.
  4. Investigate potential issues such as material defects, process deviations, or environmental impacts.

Testing and Diagnostics:

  1. Utilize advanced diagnostic tools like X-ray, SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy), and thermal imaging.
  2. Conduct performance tests to understand the impact of failure on battery characteristics, such as capacity, internal resistance, and cycle life.
  3. Work closely with design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to develop corrective actions and improve designs or processes.
  4. Partner with suppliers to address raw material quality issues.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  1. Analyze data from testing and field returns to identify trends and patterns in failures.
  2. Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.

Process Improvement:

  1. Propose design modifications or process changes to mitigate the risk of recurrence.
  2. Develop and refine standard operating procedures for failure analysis.

Job Requirement:

  1. Degree (electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar) and initial work experience or a technician training and relevant work experience in technical customer service.
  2. Very good analytical problem-solving skills.
  3. Ability to understand and troubleshoot problems in software and electronics, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.
  4. Good presentation and communication skills.
  5. Business fluent German and very good English skills (written and spoken).
  6. Willingness to travel occasionally (nationally and internationally).
