Head of Purchasing Steel

My client is currently establishing a brand-new and cutting-edge Monopile manufacturing facility near Bremen – and is in need of a procurement leader who understands the challenges and opportunities of a young, fast-growing business.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the procurement strategy for our brand-new Offshore Wind Foundation Manufacturing facility - currently under construction.
• Establish all procurement processes, supplier relationships, and sourcing strategies from scratch.
• Build a high-performing supply chain for large-scale steel structures, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
• Oversee complex, project-based procurement while aligning with offshore wind industry standards.
• Secure critical materials, logistics, and services to ensure we are ready for production by the end of 2026.
• Work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership to develop a robust, future-proof procurement framework.

Qualifications:

• Proven leadership in procurement within the steel, offshore wind, or heavy manufacturing industries.
• Strong experience in setting up procurement processes for new production sites.
• A strong network of steel suppliers and deep knowledge of raw material sourcing, logistics, and cost structures.
• Expertise in strategic steel sourcing, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
• A true pioneer mindset, eager to shape and build from the ground up.
