Quantum Software Architect

We are looking for a Quantum Software Architect, you’ll lead the design and evolution of the quantum software stack. You’ll define compiler architecture, shape optimisation strategies, and contribute to hardware-software co-design efforts across the product. This role suits someone with hands-on experience in quantum compilation who’s ready to shape the future of quantum computing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and specify the compiler front-end (quantum programming language) and back-end (machine-specific)
• Develop cross-stack optimisation strategies and performance models
• Lead scaling and performance analysis of quantum algorithms across hardware architectures
• Drive collaborative hardware-software co-design initiatives
• Ensure clean, testable, and scalable implementation within the software team
• Conduct technology scouting and assess algorithmic and architectural trends
• Contribute to roadmap planning, design decisions, and requirements engineering across the stack

Your Profile:

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years in R&D or industry roles focused on quantum compiler development or quantum software architecture
• Strong understanding of quantum algorithms, circuit design, and compiler optimisation
• Knowledge of quantum error correction and associated architectural implications
• Proficiency in Python and at least one systems language (e.g. C++, Rust)
• Experience with quantum programming frameworks such as Qiskit or Cirq
• Structured, analytical, and collaborative working style with excellent communication skills

Preferred (but not required):

• Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional hardware-software initiatives
• Ability to influence technical roadmaps through practical implementation insight
