Overview

This position is part of Cepheid’s Infectious Disease Medical and Scientific Affairs group and will be located remotely in Germany. The role will be in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and, as Director Medical Affairs (Germany), you will be responsible for activities in this region. Cepheid is part of Danaher’s operating companies and focuses on rapid, accurate molecular diagnostic systems to improve health care.

Responsibilities

• Participate in scientific meetings to engage senior KOLs, healthcare providers and customers.
• Demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in infectious disease, clinical microbiology, and related disciplines.
• Serve as a resource to the medical/scientific community including emergency and infectious disease clinicians, OB/GYNs, laboratory personnel, infection control, pharmacists and researchers.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of the Global Health environment relevant to diagnostic needs.
• Establish and maintain a broad network of contacts within relevant stakeholder communities.
• Engage and collaborate with researchers on independent studies to generate new evidence and expand Cepheid’s footprint.
• Work independently while receiving guidance for most complex problems.
• Gain expertise in the best applications of molecular diagnostics.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant scientific literature, guidelines and healthcare trends.
• Identify research gaps, support sponsored clinical trials, investigator-initiated research, Advisory Boards and Focus Groups to assist Marketing requirements for the product pipeline.
• Communicate insights from the medical/scientific community about unmet clinical or diagnostic needs and provide scientific expertise on product design, development and implementation.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MD) with specialization in infectious diseases, microbiology or infection prevention and control with 8+ years of related work experience. Other clinical fields may be considered if there is sufficient infectious disease familiarity.
• Strong scientific writing with successful publication record and excellent communication skills with national/international speaking experience.
• Proven ability to present medical/technical information succinctly to diverse audiences, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills and experience in multicultural, matrix environments.
• Fluency in German; excellent English communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel (60% regional and some international travel).

• 3+ years Medical and Scientific Affairs experience.
• Experience coordinating and managing diagnostics studies in infectious diseases in Germany.
• Clinical trials management to meet project deliverables.
• Biostatistics.
• Regulatory familiarity for on-market diagnostics.
