Job Description:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key member of our Drone Port team, driving the development of object detection, tracking, pose estimation, and advanced robot control functionalities using AI concepts and machine learning techniques. You will apply a range of techniques, including machine learning, sensor fusion, and other innovative methods, to enable robust detection and tracking of drones and ensure precise landing and manipulation. With our world-class team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing drone technology, robotic automation, and the seamless operation of drone ports.

You will work closely with stakeholders from software, hardware, and aeronautical engineering to design and implement end-to-end solutions that integrate the right sensors and systems for autonomous drone landing and take-off. Your role will be critical in selecting appropriate hardware components and developing the software needed to process sensor data, ensure real-time decision-making, and enable robust control. Your expertise will support Quantum Systems in its mission to become the benchmark for aerial data collection solutions with unmanned aerial systems (sUAV).

Daily Responsibilities:

  1. Lead development of object detection, tracking, and pose estimation techniques for precise drone interaction and control.
  2. Design and implement integration of multi-sensor setups for autonomous drone port functionality.
  3. Develop software to process data from sensors like cameras, LiDAR, GPS, etc.
  4. Implement advanced robotics control strategies for drone landing, movement, and take-off.
  5. Ensure robust software platform development and integration with user interfaces.
  6. Conduct testing and validation of software for reliability.
  7. Collaborate with hardware, robotics, and aeronautical teams.
  8. Coordinate with drone platform and mission control teams for seamless integration.

Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in computer vision, AI-driven object detection, and robotics, with expertise in sensor fusion and real-time control systems.
  • Strong background in software development (C++, Python, embedded systems).
  • Familiarity with software methodologies like SAFe.
  • Proficiency in AI and machine learning, especially in sensing modalities for robot control.
  • Open, communicative, and collaborative personality.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring.
  • Highly self-motivated with ownership mindset.
  • Fluent in English.
